Uman National University of Horticulture is the oldest agrarian university in Ukraine. Its history goesback to 1844 when it was the only Main School of Horticulture in the whole Russian Empire. Today the university is a multidisciplinary educational and scientific center of agrarian education, which has been conferred the IV level of accreditation. More than 5,000 students study at six university faculties which include 12 directions and 18 specialties. Regional university center which unites six educational institutions of I-II levels of accreditation was created on the basis of the university. More than 13,000 students study at the center.

The university includes such departments as the department of pre-diploma education, center of culture and education, institute of post-diploma education and extension services. Doctorate and post-graduate courses provide scientific degrees in seven and eighteen specialties respectively.

Seven scientific-research laboratories, an education-research-production department with anexperimental field, orchard, forest and 1,000 hectares of farm land function at the university.
